Frequently Asked Questions

(PHYSICAL THERAPY)

Do I need a Referral or Script from my Doctor?

No. The state of Massachussetts as well as most states across the U.S. are Direct Access States for Physical Therapy. This means if you have any sort of pain, injury, discomfort, or physical problem physical therapists are able to be your first line of care.

I haven't seen my Doctor yet. Is it ok to see you first?

Absolutely! At Tour Physio we are skilled in assessing a wide range of orthopedic and musculoskeletal conditions and pride ourselves on providing the most thorough assessment for our patients and clients. Once we assess you we can help guide you on the appropriate path. For most patients this may lead to Physical Therapy. For some however we might recommend follow up with your primary care physician, your orthopedic, or other specialist if we are concerned that you need further care and attention.

Can I stay active while undergoing PT?

The answer is almost always yes. We are skilled in working with athletes of all ages and levels of athleticism and our goal is to keep people moving as much as possible. We will work closely with you and other members of your team (i.e. coach, parent, personal trainer) to keep you doing as much as you can while allowing you to bounce back as quickly as possible.

What should I wear to a session?

The best clothing you can wear is it clothing that is comfortable and you are free to move in. It is best that you wear clothing that allows us access to the body part we are examining so we can accurately look at and assess your injury and your movement.
